The walks have been intensively researched and the descriptions are both practical and inspiring, making this a new 'Walking Classic' guidebook; so much so that we are now refer to Charles Davis as the new 'rock star' of mountain walking. On the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada is the region known as the Alpujarras. Moorish villages cling to the steep sides of the Poqueira and Trevelez valleys in a landscape drawn on a grand scale. Ancient donkey trails abound which make ideal walking routes linking the villages of the region. It would be difficult to find a better setting for our first venture onto the Ibeirian Peninsula! For the independent traveller we include accommodation information. Fly to Malaga, rent a car and ninety minutes later you are in this walking 'paradise'. OK so Kev doesn't like thematic titles to walks but no one will argue with "The walks in both books are well-researched and clearly written" and "The same publisher produces walkers' maps and I find these much more interesting (and inspiring) than the guides themselves."
